I read an article yesterday and saw a new program launched for hotels.com. It is called welcomerewards, which you will earn a free night up to $400 dollar after 10 nights stays booked via hotels.com.
Those online booking agents start to have some kind of loyalty program now, but for those who want hotel chain elite status and points, these programs won't help because you will not earn any hotel programs points or elite credit if you book via third party website. However, it does provide some incentives for people who don't care elite status and points.
